  • Modular Synthesis

For students who are interested in Modular Synthesis, we have located a virtual modular synthesis software that runs emulations of real modules. This can provide you with an insight on how to create your own modular synthesisers, with an abundance of modules with every level of exploration. You can find the basic platform VCV rack via this link: https://vcvrack.com/Host

(This will be installed in all of the labs and studios once the lockdown is lifted. This a free source, a great way to get a further insight into modular synthesis. This can satisfy many functions depending on your artistic needs for example game audio, electronic composition, experimental etc) .

VCV runs predominately as a stand alone, however we have managed to source for you a host capability alongside your DAW software via the link: windows and Mac capability: https://vcvrack.com/Rack

The software allows you to incorporate your VST plugins inside the VCV software as ‘modules’…

In order to be installed the host has to unzip and place it in the VST plugin library on your PC. The DAW software should be able to access VCV through this method…
